The “Zigzagging ParkS” project began by exploring the territory of Porta Romana. A site of disconnection between the center and the suburbs of Milan in the face of several groups that, instead, needed a place for recreation and community integration. The organic, contrasting the rigidness of the city and bleeding through to the site, naturally. Becoming the scenario for place-making.  Considering the important context, interior axes were established. As well as the existing railway, which will be the final and ultimate promenades. Sewing everything comes the relentless zigzag. A connection mechanism that cuts through the site and disappears into the solids as a never-ending force. The landscape portions the zigzag and each segment becomes part of an individual park. The zig-zag in return dictates the choice of botanic life to promote connection with the public buildings and ensure all-year comfort. This way, trees are planted in such a way that, as winter comes, some of the leaves fall to the ground so the sun warms up the living units. The zigzag also frees up nature by encapsulating domesticity, traffic, and commerce. The flexible 8m by 8m grid allows for the additive inclusion of modular units that can be prefabricated and arranged to create infinite interior private and public configurations. Dynamic ramps are located at the corners of the zig zag as vertical connections, allowing the first and third stories to house vehicles liberating the nature below. The interior of this building becomes the new street, the new home, while still maintaining a strong relationship with the changing landscape
